New iPhone App for People with MS

The Apple i-Phone has revolutionized the way people do business, stay in touch, and manage their daily lives. With thousands of i-Phone applications available for things like social networking, fitness tracking, sleep study, music, GPS, news, and video games, people can now get lost in the excitement of keeping connected to everyone and everything. There are some applications, however, that are doing more than allowing you to play a virtual guitar on your phone. A Pennsylvania-based company recently released an i-Phone healthcare management application called i-inject.

The application is the brainchild of David WardeniInject_home, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008. He developed the application so that those suffering with MS can track their injections and oral medications. It also allows them to easily e-mail the records to their doctor so that he/she can keep abreast of the medications and subsequent reactions. Users can track the rotation of their injection sites, set reminders for taking medication, and keep reports regarding their medication inventory and usage. It is helpful for multiple sclerosis patients because they do not have to worry about recording their treatment in separate notebooks or on the computer. All of the information necessary to track their condition and treatment is all in one place. It is also helpful because it allows a health care professional to assess how an individual may be responding to various drugs and how many doses it takes to show an improvement in symptoms. Additionally, this application may reduce the amount of time a person suffering with multiple sclerosis must spend in a doctor’s office because all of the reports are transmitted electronically. It is also helpful because many individuals end up having to file for social security disability benefits due to the difficulty of MS and must provide records regarding their treatment regimes. With i-inject, all of their records would be in one place and could easily be printed out and submitted with an initial application for benefits or at a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge.

Mr. Warden works in information technology, owning Elite Circle Computing, and after having to keep track of all of his medications and dosing schedules, he knew there had to be a more efficient way. He felt that there could be a way that technology could streamline all of the reports he had to keep and help him manage his healthcare more effectively. He met with an application developer, and the i-inject concept was given life. It is available for $14.99 and may be downloaded to any Apple i-Phone or i-Pod Touch device. With everything else that we download onto our i-Phones, it would be great to have our healthcare managed in the same place.
